– What is Harrison’s sketch book?

Since I was 14 years old, I had a hard time focusing in my classes. The only way that I could find to help me focus and retain information better was by doodling, drawing, or sketching in tandem with taking notes.

As I got older, I still bring this tactic with me to help me get ideas onto paper. This has helped me with any creative project, because I can add drawings to my notes for a later reference.

The Great Beyond

2022

The Great Beyond is a song by the band R.E.M., which was written in 1999 for the 1999 film Man on the Moon.

The song reached number three on the UK Singles Chart in January 2000, and was later nominated for a Grammy Award.

I created this poster based on the interpretation of the lyrics.

In the chorus:

– I’m breaking through, I’m bending spoons.

(Here’s a little agit for the never-believer)

– I’m keeping flowers in full bloom.

(Here’s a little ghost for the offering)

– I’m looking for answers from the great beyond.

I felt inspired to create a ghost-like figure of a human bust /profile with flowers coming out of its head.

To me, this song is about someone taking care and pushing through a hard time to help them find the answers they need to overcome their challenge.

The lyrics within the figure are signifying what a mental reminder looks like to perservere.

Dreams

As a child, I always daydreamed about some glorious video game world or planned an escape to a place I’ve always wanted to go.

Dreams is a soft pastel drawing that shows a faded figure observing from a distance, in hopes of being able to join that world.

Narcisist

Sometimes when I am out in a store shopping, driving to work, or even just scrolling online, I have always found it so amusing how others can be so wrapped up in their own world to the point where they forget that there is another one they live in.

There have been countless instances where people will just stand right in the way of another person trying to get to a shelf around them. Or an ” influencer” complaining about how difficult their lives are, when there are billions of other people struggling even to get a quarter of their wealth. And even others who take so many pictures of themselves and post them shamelessly for what?

Many can relate, or even understand how when someone is so wrapped up in themselves, the world around them can become infinite white noise that slowly closes in on their subconcious.
